Candle Care Tips

Last week, I posted some info on the common misconceptions with Soy candles. I woulod now like to follow up with some basic candle care tips.

The funny thing is, before I got into candle making, if someone told me to care for my candle I would have laughed in their face. I never thought it might actually help save me money on wasted candles!

When I first joined Atise (my introduction to soy) I was told about a few simple things we could do to make sure our candles burn right to the bottom, thus ensuring that we don't end up throwing out half a candle that wont burn...

If you think Soy candles are more expensive than regular parrafin candles, then you'd be right. But, the small added cost of Soy is well worth the money spent. Have you ever had a candle do this??

This is called Candle tunneling. And once you get it, it's almost impossible to correct. This can happen for a number of reasons

1. The wick is too small for the jar and amount of wax
2. The candle wasn't "pre-burned" allowing sufficient time for a complete melt pool to occur.
3. The candle is made from inferior products.
